CMP Detention and Infiltration System

CONTECH’s corrugated metal pipe (CMP) underground detention/retention systems can be sized and shaped to meet most site-specific storage needs. The versatile material provides almost limitless opportunities to match individual site requirements while lowering site development costs.

CMP detention systems combine variable sizing, material economy, faster installation, and durability to provide an economic method for controlling stormwater runoff. For larger systems, use the Optimizer™ flow control device to reduce required storage volume.

CMP Infiltration Systems

CMP can be used as an efficient underground retention system. Perforated CMP pipe is surrounded by very porous materials such as uniformly graded stone. Typically, the same types of materials used around subdrainage pipes are excellent for recharge systems.

CMP Systems for Stormwater Detention

Flexible configurations and pipe coatings are adaptable to site-specific footprints and conditions. CMP is available in larger diameters than other materials, so it provides the most cubic feet of storage per linear foot. The lightweight, cost-effective material offers the least cost per cubic foot of storage, and less excavation means quick, simple installation. The systems are easy to access for inspection and maintenance.

Subsurface Infiltration for LID Designs

ChamberMaxx plastic arch system effectively recharges groundwater which can achieve reduced discharge objectives. CONTECH also offers several other systems, including CMP that can be easily perforated to allow for infiltration.The DryWell StormFilter provides infiltration and treatment in one structure. The manhole design can be installed throughout your site to provide decentralized, microscale stormwater management controls.

SS Credit 5.1 – Site Development, Protect or Restore Habitat, 1 Point

Intent – Conserve existing natural areas and restore damaged areas to provide habitat and promote biodiversity.

SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Quantity Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

WE Credit 3 – Water Efficiency, 2-4 Points

Intent – Further increase water efficiency within buildings to reduce the burden on municipal water supply and wastewater systems. Reduce by 30% (2 points), reduce by 35% (3 points) or reduce by 40% (4 points).

Create water efficient landscaping by harvesting rainwater for re-use
Store water belowgrade or above ground using pipe or structures

WE Credit 3 – Water Efficiency, 2-4 Points

Potential contribution: WE Credit 3 – CONTECH Stormwater Treatment and Detention Systems

Reuse harvested rainwater for grey water applications such as toilet flushing

MR Credit 4 – Recycled Content, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials. The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost, of the total value of the materials in the project.

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.
