Our Erosion Control Blankets (ECBs) are well-suited to the relatively short-term challenges of establishing vegetation in low to moderate erosion applications. Most of our ECBs are dimensionally stable reinforce rolled products made from a variety of organic and synthetic materials, including straw, coconut and polypropylene nettings.

Project Profiles

All our ECBs are designed to hold seed and soil in place, protecting emerging seedlings and accelerating vegetation growth until it become robust enough to maintain long-term erosion protection by itself. Consisting primarily of organic materials, each ECB is engineered to degrade over a specified period of up to one, two or three years, depending on application requirement and project location.

Our ECBs outperform and are more cost-effective than conventional erision control methods, including blown straw and hydraulic mulch.

Erosion Control Blankets offer the following benefits:

Dimensionally stable blankets that degrade over specified period of time as vegetation grows strong enough to control erosion by itself
Encourages faster vegetation growth, allowing the root system to establish solid support
Natural fibers are mechanically bound to the netting by parallel-lock stitching

Erosion Control and Turf Reinforcement for Channel and Diversion Ditch Protection

Our Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforement Mats offer cost-effective alternatives to dumped stone for feeder channels and diversion ditches. Installation is fast, easy and does not require any heavy equipment - resulting in a savings of both production time and project costs.

Erosion Control and Turf Reinforcement for Slope Stabilization

Cut and fill slopes occurring during construction are a major contributor to soil erosion and associated water quality impacts. Our full line of degradable Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforcement Mats protect vulnerable slopes while promoting the establishment of natural vegetation.

Sustainable Sites Prerequisite 1 - Erosion and Sediment Control Plan

Intent – Reduce pollution from construction activities by controlling soil erosion and waterway sedimentation.

Potential Contribution: Erosion Control Blankets and Turf Reinforcement Mats

Provide temporary or permanent stabilization of soil
Allow seed stabilization until a native vegetative cover has grown and established

SS Credit 5.1 – Site Development, Protect or Restore Habitat, 1 Point

Intent – Conserve existing natural areas and restore damaged areas to provide habitat and promote biodiversity.

Protect newly vegetated areas
Provide temporary or permanent stabilization of soil and seed until native vegetation is established
Reinforce channels and bioswales
Create green shoulders on roadways

SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Quantity Control, 1 Point

Intent – Limit disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration, reducing or eliminating pollution from stormwater runoff and eliminating contaminants.

Improve function and durability of landscape-based infiltration systems

MR Credit 5.1 – Regional Materials, 1-2 Points

Intent – Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured locally to a job site in hopes to reduce the environmental impact that would result from transporting these goods. Products manufactured, extracted and recycled within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (1 point) or 20% (2 points), based on cost of the total materials value.
